Gord Van Dyck
Gord Van Dyck reports there are currently 16 active and outstanding grievances at FortisBC (Gas Operations) (“FBCG”). Four concern claims for paid sick leave, four concern claims for travel time pay and cost reimbursements, two concern work jurisdiction, two concern FBCG’s failure to post vacancies, one concerns an accommodation issue, one concerns discipline, one concerns a claim for pay and one is a group grievance concerning FBCG’s failure to properly schedule time off. One grievance is in abeyance and two were settled this month. Dave Webb’s discharge grievance was settled confidentially on terms satisfactory to Dave. Jeff Klimek’s Paid Sick Leave Grievance was settled without prejudice when FBCG agreed to accept Jeff’s claim for paid sick leave and to accordingly replenish his Overtime Bank.
Bargaining with FBCG will resume for three days on February 14 and for four days on February 28. The Union hopes to discuss the monetary issues during one or both of these sessions.
