We are three Mi'gmaq women who have a dream and the support and encouragement of our families, possessing the commitment, dedication and determination to cycle across this country (7,200 km) to raise awareness and bring attention to the plight of family violence experienced by so many in our Aboriginal communities and violence against Aboriginal women.

In 1935 hundreds of single unemployed men hopped freight trains for Ottawa demanding work, wages and an end to government relief camps. Their historic On to Ottawa Trekwas one of the highlights of the severe economic depression of 1929-39. It led to many of the social programs we enjoy today. This site is intended to keep alive the spirit, the memories, and the lessons of the trek.

PovNet is an internet site for advocates, people on welfare, and community groups and individuals involved in anti-poverty work. It provides up-to-date information about welfare and housing laws and resources in British Columbia, Canada. PovNet links to current anti-poverty issues and also provides links to other Canadian and International anti-poverty organizations.

In 1987 the first corporate salmon farm arrived in the archipelago, and all expected prosperous times for the community and reduced pressure and conservation of wild salmon stocks. In a few short years these hopes were dashed.
