IBEW Local 213 hosts the first-ever NextGen Conference here in the Lower Mainland
Sisters and Brothers,
Please consider this my personal invitation to join us at IBEW Local 213’s first-ever NextGen Conference here in the Lower Mainland.
At a national level, the IBEW is working to develop NextGen committees in each local union across the country to create a space for IBEW members under the age of 35 to get involved. You are our future. We want to ensure your needs and interests are properly understood and represented. We are starting a NextGen Committee in Local 213, and the day-long conference is our first step.
The conference takes place on Saturday May 12, 2018 at the Rick Dowling Centre in Port Coquitlam, B.C. If you want to be a part of the leadership that will be responsible for building and creating the committee at a grass roots level, then please join us. We want your input. Our goal is to bring together a group of people to lead and build the committee and to establish an executive with a structure and goals for the committee’s work by the end of the event day.
Space is limited so please RSVP quickly if you are interested.
You can also register by contacting my assistant Glynis Jones 604-571-6518 | firstname.lastname@example.org
Your Local union is part of a North-America-wide movement of close to 750,000 members working in many diverse workplaces, with a long and proud history. For more than 100 years, we have been at the forefront in the campaign for decent pay, benefits and working conditions.
Local 213 is still growing and improving, building on strategies for organizational development and organizing. We have first-class benefits and one of the finest electrical trades training centers in Canada, and we recently created a Partnership and Community Engagement Department to support members in getting more active in the community and strengthen and build new relationships.
We want you to learn more about the union’s operations, challenges and goals at the NextGen Conference and we want to hear from you. Local 213’s vision is to achieve a bright future by building safer, more productive workplaces and communities. None of this can be accomplished without the work of informed and engaged members like you. You will be joined at this conference by sisters and brothers from across the province to compare notes, learn, and set new directions.
I am thanking you in advance for giving serious thought to my invitation. To succeed and grow as a union, we need a strong network of engaged members. I look forward to seeing you in May so we can continue to plan and shape the future of our union, IBEW Local 213.
If you need to contact me for any other reason, you can contact Glynis as noted above.

Business Manager & Financial Secretary
