Aboriginal Women on the Move
We are three Mi'gmaq women who have a dream and the support and encouragement of our families, posses, sing the commitment, dedication and determination to cycle across this country (7,200 km) to raise awareness and bring attention to the plight of family violence experienced by so many in our Aboriginal communities and violence against Aboriginal women.

BC Federation of Labour
In part, the BC Federation of Labour exists to preserve the independence of the labour movement from political control; to encourage workers to vote, exercise their full rights of responsibilities of citizenship, and perform their rightful part in the political life of municipal, provincial, and federal governments; to promote and develop action in the political field; and to support the legislative program of the Canadian Labour Congress.

On to Ottawa Historical Society
In 1935 hundreds of single unemployed men hopped freight trains for Ottawa demanding work, wages and an end to government relief camps. Their historic On to Ottawa Trek was one of the highlights of the severe economic depression of 1929-39. It led to many of the social programs we enjoy today. PovNet is an internet site for advocates, people on welfare, and community groups and individuals involved in anti-poverty work. It provides up-to-date information about welfare and housing laws and resources in British Columbia, Canada. PovNet links to current anti-poverty issues and also provides links to other Canadian and International anti-poverty organizations.

Raincoast Research Society
In 1987 the first corporate salmon farm arrived in the archipelago, and all expected prosperous times for the community and reduced pressure and conservation of wild salmon stocks. In a few short years these hopes were dashed.

Why The Tyee? Glad you asked. Maybe you mean, why the name? The tyee, generally understood in these parts, is a savvy salmon with plenty of fight. Like this electronic newspaper, it roams free, goes where it wants... But maybe you are asking, why create The Tyee? Why now? For starters: Because big media in this province are owned by a powerful few with their own agendas. Because that leaves many people here hungry for news and comment that reflects their actual lives, their own values.
