64th Annual Ironworkers Bridge Memorial

Join Ironworkers Local 97 an in-person memorial this year to commemorate the workers who lost their lives during the collapse.

On June 17, 1958, 18 ironworkers lost their lives when the bridge over Second Narrows collapsed while under construction. Later, a diver working to recover bodies drowned, bringing the total fatalities for the collapse to 19.

The memorial ceremony starts at 1 p.m. today on Fellowes Street in Vancouver, beside Bates Park.
