Annual Bentall memorial shines light on construction worker deaths

It has been 36 years since four Vancouver construction workers fell to their deaths from the 36th floor of the Bentall Centre Tower IV building. On Monday, January 9th, 2017 victims’ families, construction worker representatives, labour leaders and local politicians will gather to demand safer work environments. The last WorkSafeBC statistics report found 29 construction workers died - 18 workers from trauma and 11 workers from exposure.

Where: Burrard Skytrain Station, western corner of the park

Speakers at the event include: Don Davies - MP, Sam Sullivan - MLA, Councillor Raymond Louie - City of Vancouver, Irene Lanzinger - BC Federation of Labour, Al Johnson - WorkSafeBC, and Tom Sigurdson - Executive Director of the BC Building Trades. Family members of the Bentall construction workers killed have confirmed their attendance.
