Community Savings Supports Striking IBEW 213 Members

We recieved the following message of support from our sisters and brothers at Community Savings Credit Union. Solidarity!

Re: Ledcor LTS Strike

Your members are on strike fighting for their basic rights as well as the rights of others. I know that this commitment can mean it is a challenging time financially for your members and I write to show our solidarity and offer our support for IBEW 213. We have been ‘the unions’ credit union’ for 75 years, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with our members in good times and bad.

Any of your members who have a mortgage with Community Savings have the right to postpone their payments for three months. We don’t think that your members who are making this stand should have the additional worry of covering mortgage payments during what can be a financially difficult time. In addition, our branch team and financial advisors can set up urgent calls or meetings with your members to answer any questions and give practical advice.

We want to support your members who are not yet with Community Savings and can offer;

  • The same level of expert advice and support from our financial advisors and branch teams
  • A low-interest Line of Credit or Loan with no payments made for the first three months (should the lock-out last longer than three months your members would only be required to pay interest on the principal)

While these loans are subject to credit approval, the fact that your members are on strike does not disqualify them.

Community Savings will also work with IBEW 213 to generate awareness through our social media channels and our CEO, Mike Schilling, and I will be visiting the line to show solidarity with your members.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if there is anything further we can do to support you and your members.

In solidarity,

Lisa Langan, Union Liaison Officer
