After a brief exchange of proposals CLRA had concerns with respect to the number of items brought to the main table as well as BCBCBTU’s proposal on retroactivity. CLRA’s position was that there would be no further talks if BCBCBTU didn’t reduce the number of items at the main table and removed retroactivity as a proposal. The parties separated; BCBCBTU had discussions on CLRA’s position and we agreed to move many of the main table proposals to trade tables; items such as L.O.A., checkout and turnaround language, travel, coffee breaks but retroactivity stayed as a main table item.
BCBCBTU did agree to change the effective date of the retroactivity proposal from May 1, 2010 to November 1, 2010. BCBCTU presented this position to the CLRA Bargaining Council in the afternoon; CLR responded that they would have to take BCBCBTU’s position back to their full council for direction.
As of June 24th no further dates have been set for either main or trade table discussions.
