Aboriginal Women on the Move
We are three Mi'gmaq women who have a dream and the support and encouragement of our families, possessing the commitment, dedication and determination to cycle across this country (7,200 km) to raise awareness and bring attention to the plight of family violence experienced by so many in our Aboriginal communities and violence against Aboriginal women.

In 1935 hundreds of single unemployed men hopped freight trains for Ottawa demanding work, wages and an end to government relief camps. Their historic On to Ottawa Trek was one of the highlights of the severe economic depression of 1929-39. It led to many of the social programs we enjoy today. Like this electronic newspaper, it roams free, goes where it wants... But maybe you are asking, why create The Tyee? Why now? Because that leaves many people here hungry for news and comment that reflects their actual lives, their own values.
