IBEW 213 Calls on Shaw to Match BC Labour Code

IBEW 213 members employed at Shaw have been told to use their personal leave days to get their COVID-19 vaccination. Telecommunications workers are covered by the Federal Labour Code and therefore are not entitled to the three-hours paid leave for COVID vaccine mandated by the B.C. Labour Code.

While some federally regulated employers have extended the leave to their workers, Shaw has refused. An IBEW 213 member employed at Shaw who wish to remain anonymous fearing retaliation for speaking out, and IBEW 213 Assistant Business Manager Robin Nedila spoke with CBC News Vancouver.
