Local 213’s Inaugural Labour Education Conference

As we continue to move forward with new ideas, take a moment to look back at Local 213’s first Labour Education conference through this short video montage.

“This conference was in order to broaden and strengthen the participation base in our union,” said Local 213 Business Manager Adam Van Steinburg.

“Our mission is to become recognized as the most progressive, professional union local in Canada, and seen as a leader in job security, workplace safety, training and benefits. Each one of us can play an important part in making that mission a reality,” said Local 213 President Jim Lofty.

The 2017 Labour Education conference brought together nearly 200 delegates from across Local 213’s membership, as well as representatives from the First District office and the International office in Washington D.C.

“It was great to see our International Vice President Bill Daniels at our event, along with the education team from the International,” said President Lofty.

IBEW International President Lonnie Stephenson addressed the conference via video, and congratulated Local 213 on its conference and the theme of “Moving Forward with New Ideas.” His personal message encourages everyone to get more involved in the Local.
