National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Thursday, September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Formerly recognized as Orange Shirt Day, this past summer the federal government passed legislation to make September 30th a federal statutory holiday called the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

IBEW 213 offices will be closed on September 30, and we expect the majority of our signatory contractors to recognize and respect this day for IBEW 213 members. If you have any questions regarding this new statutory holiday, contact the IBEW 213 dispatch office or your Assistant Business Manager. You can find their contact information here:

Truth and Reconciliation Day provides an opportunity for IBEW 213 members, their families, and all Canadians to recognize and commemorate the legacy of residential schools and this country's mistreatment of First Nations people.
